Talking about the condition of Urdu in India we could certainly say that before independence and even after independence for sometime Urdu had its powerful and influential existence but now if we consider the facts, figure of Urdu knowing individuals is continually decreasing with each passing day. Unfortunately, if we talk about current situation of Urdu; it could not befit as a language of mass Communication. Consequently, much attention have not been paid to Urdu journalism too whereas if we talk about Hindi and English Journalism after almost 50 years of Independence, they have gained significant development along with World level status and acclaim. Evidently, due to this crisis of Urdu language, most of the reading material that are being published onto Urdu magazines and newspapers are simply translated form of articles and news of English and Hindi newspapers. Thus, to overcome this crisis for Urdu language Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Board was set up that works successfully in imparting a balance of religious Islamic education along with study of secular subjects.
We are living in an era where mass communication has acquired one of the most prominent positions in the society such that Hindi and English journalism has shown a wide scope and massive growth whereas Urdu journalism is still underdeveloped or we can say diminishing day by day. Consequently, realizing this fact and fearing the possible extinction of Urdu language that may occur observing the decreasing pattern of Urdu scholars Madarsa Board Education took an initiative towards increasing Urdu Journalism by introduction of correspondence courses in Urdu journalism conducted by Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Talimi Board (under the Department of Minorities Welfare & Waqf, Government of UP).
